Ecocat Litter & Cat's heatlh

  • Our litter is water soluble and can be removed in small quantities in the toilet. However, if you allow your cat to go outside, he is at risk of becoming infected with toxoplasmosis (and your cat could infect the sewage system through runoff).

If your cat stays indoors, he will not have been exposed to toxoplasmosis and it will be possible to throw the litter in the toilet!

You can make sure your cat has no toxoplasmosis by leaving it indoors for more than 2 weeks, giving the parasite time to complete its life cycle and leave your cat's body.

  • Ecocat litter is made from 100% plant-based materials — including tofu by-products, soybean husks, and pea husks — which makes it fully compostable and a great option for reducing household waste.

However, due to potential pathogens in animal waste, not all municipalities allow composting of cat litter. It’s important to check with your local composting guidelines before adding it to your compost bin.

  • The molecular structure of activated carbon (a material we added) absorbs odors in its pores in order to eliminate urine, excrement, bacteria and by the same token odors. Activated charcoal is produced from sustainable raw materials and is the best solution to stop unpleasant odors.

  • The absorbent properties of soybeans (tofu) allow Ecocat litter to absorb 4 to 5 times the liquid of its volume. This unique characteristic makes it possible to generate less raw material, thus generating less waste and ensuring a product which lasts on average 30 days for a quantity of 8 pounds.

    * Note that longevity may vary depending on the needs of your cat. Some cats generate more waste than others

Our litter is the safest option. Our formula does not contain any synthetic additives, chemicals or fragrances. Without any harmful ingredients for you and your cat, you can now have peace of mind

  • Ecocat litter is made from 100% plant-based materials, specifically:

    • Recycled vegetable fibers from tofu by-products not intended for human consumption
    • Soybean husks
    • Pea husks

This unique blend supports a circular economy by repurposing food industry waste into high-performance cat litter — reducing environmental impact while maintaining excellent absorbency and odor control.

It’s completely biodegradable, free from synthetic additives, chemicals, and fragrances, and is safe for both cats and the planet. Thanks to its natural plant structure, Ecocat absorbs 4 to 5 times its volume in liquid and forms tight clumps quickly, making cleanup easy and efficient.

The lightweight design (4x lighter than clay litters), combined with natural odor-fighting ingredients like activated charcoal and baking soda, makes Ecocat a smart, eco-friendly choice for conscientious cat owners.

  • Our litter is made from recycled vegetable fibers that come from tofu by-products not used in production intended for humans.

The litter is binding so it can be easily collected, composted or thrown in the toilet where it dissolves (see our instructions on this before proceeding)

In addition, thanks to our addition of activated carbon molecules, bad odors are eliminated in an optimal way.

Also, the elongated shape of the litter particles effectively reduces the pieces of litter outside the litter box. Thus, the interior stays clean longer (30 days) while ensuring a clean and comfortable environment for your cat’s needs.

Finally, Ecocat is also a time saver since our delivery service (free) eliminates the in-store purchase process which is often tedious given the heaviness of the product.

  • Ecocat litter is designed to work best with medium-sized litter boxes, around 12” x 16”. This size provides ideal depth and coverage for one bag of Ecocat, allowing its natural clumping and absorbent properties to perform at their best.

If you have a larger litter box (typically 16” x 20” or more), we recommend using two bags of Ecocat litter. This ensures there’s enough volume to maintain odor control, absorbency, and cleanliness — especially important for households with multiple cats or large litter areas.

Each 8 lb bag of Ecocat can last up to 30 days in a standard litter box when used as recommended. The litter is lightweight (about 4x lighter than clay), naturally clumping, and low tracking, which makes it a clean and sustainable choice for any box size.

For irregular needs (e.g. four bags every three months), feel free to contact us at meow@ecocatlitter.ca — we’ll be happy to personalize your setup!

  • Absolutely! You just have to buy an extra litter box.

  • Transitioning to Ecocat litter is usually smooth, especially when done gradually. Since Ecocat is made from 100% plant-based materials — like tofu by-products, soybean husks, and pea husks — its texture and scent might feel different from traditional litter, so a step-by-step approach works best.

Start by mixing a small amount of Ecocat with your cat’s current litter. This helps your cat get used to the new texture and smell without causing stress. Over the next 7 to 10 days, slowly increase the amount of Ecocat while decreasing the old litter during each cleaning. Most cats will adapt comfortably within this time frame.

Once your cat seems comfortable using the mix, you can switch fully to Ecocat litter. Throughout the transition, it’s important to keep the litter box clean and in the same location to maintain a sense of familiarity. Monitor your cat’s behavior closely. If they seem hesitant or avoid the box, slow the transition down and give them more time to adjust. Some cats, especially older or more sensitive ones, may take longer — and that’s totally normal.

Ecocat is odorless, dust-free, and much lighter than clay litter, which makes it not only eco-friendly but also pleasant for your cat to use. If you’re having trouble during the transition or have any questions, feel free to contact us at meow@ecocatlitter.ca — we’re happy to help!
